“Mhmm…” is a showcase of the explorative and experimental work created by seven diverse minds. Ranging from textiles to oil painting, the show covers a wide array of materials and processes. Each artist pushed beyond his or her usual practice to discover something novel within his or herself. After seven vigorous weeks, each artist came to terms with a new practice, a new way of thinking, and a new way of approaching his or her work. 

Benjamin, from Los Angeles, creates series of non-objective paintings that through their own visual elements seek to propel themselves into a state of objective awakening; Kurt, Taiwan, projects his cynical view of the real world into his own imaginary world in his paintings; Corinna, Chicago, alters the language of found textiles using fugitive materials; Samuel, New York, transcribes mental states into a physical space; Lizze, North Dakota, creates unbounded spaces and objects rooted in memory and experience; Masha, Philadelphia, fuses technology and expressive brushwork to create a representational/non-objective hybrid; Kristen, New Jersey, through drawing and sculpture, explores form and responds to the materiality of found textiles.
