Katherine Bernhardt 6/22

Our first visiting artist of the summer, Katherine Bernhardt will be at Tyler at 12pm tomorrow for a slide lecture with the SPI students followed by individual studio visits. Katherine just recently had a show at Canada Gallery in New York and is a juror for the Boston Young Contemporaries summer exhibition. She is the first in an excellent line-up which includes Whitney Biennial representatives Joe Bradley and Richard Aldrich as well as Dasha Shishkin and Tyler alum Angela Dufresne.

Friday's field trip took us to the studio of Odili Odita in the Crane Arts building and to the Philadelphia Museum of Art for an introduction to their great collection of work!

Studio Visit: Odili Odita


Our first SPI trip was to the Crane Arts Building and the studio of Odili Odita. Odili is an Associate Professor of Painting at Tyler School of Art and his work has been widely shown in the US and abroad over the past decade. He represented America at the 2007 Venice Biennial and has since done large scale wall works at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The ICA in Philadelphia and Princeton University. He is currently working on a piece at the United Nations in New York City.
